Josh Lawson, Lewis Tan & Jessica McNamee Join ‘Mortal Kombat’

The cast of New Line’s Mortal Kombat has added some new stars to its roster. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Josh Lawson, Lewis Tan and Jessica McNamee are at various stages of casting for the film.
The Meg star McNamee is currently in final negotiations to play Sonya Blade in the James Wan-produced film. Also, Lawson has closed a deal to play Kano. Finally, Tan, who has appeared in Wu Assassins and Deadpool 2, is in final negotiations to play an undisclosed lead character.

As of now, the plot of the movie is unknown other than that it will focus on the massive roster of fighters from different realms in the Mortal Kombat game. Greg Russo has penned the screenplay.
Sonya Blade, the general of the Earthrealm Special Forces, was the first female character introduced in video game franchise and has had a long-standing feud with Kano, a member of the Black Dragon clan.
The stars join the already stacked cast of Joe Taslim, Mehcad Brooks, and Ludi Lin as Sub-Zero, Jackson ‘Jax’ Briggs, and Liu Kang respectively.
Mortal Kombat hits theaters on March 5, 2021.
