Ming Na Wen Set to Appear in Disney+ Star Wars Series ‘The Mandalorian’

The day is young and news is already coming out of D23. Bob Iger announced that Ming Na Wen has joined the cast of Jon Favreau’s The Mandalorian. This marks Wen’s third role in a major Disney project after starring as the titular character in Mulan, and will reprise the role of kick-ass warrior spy, Melinda May, in the seventh and final season of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. She giddily confirmed the announcement herself exclaiming that Disney gave her the chance to “hit every bucket list” by bringing her into their Animated, Marvel and now Star Wars universes.
“I used to pray to God, Buddha and the Force when I was a little girl,” says Wen. “It’s astounding to me. Disney has offered me so much more.” Sadly, she didn’t offer fans any more details on the character that she will be playing, besides to say with a laugh “I, umm, well I certainly don’t play a farmer.” I think that fans should expect whoever this mystery character is to be quite a bit more lethal than a simple farmer.
Ming Na Wen joins Pedro Pascal, Gina Carano, Giancarlo Esposito, Carl Weathers, Nick Nolte, Emily Swallow, Omid Abtahl, and Werner Herzog on the growing cast list. More news on Mandalorian is expected to drop throughout the afternoon. Tune in to @fullcirclecinema
