‘Joker’ Director Todd Phillips Says A Sequel Is Possible

With just a few months left until its release, Joker is on everyone’s list of 2019’s anticipated films. Despite this, the film’s director revealed to Total Film that he is already on-board for a sequel.
Joaquin Pheonix stars as the titular character in a film that will serve as an ambiguous origin tale for the Batman villain. One of the most beloved bad guys in pop culture history, The Joker has always been shrouded in mystery.

Phillips has taken on the task of telling the story of the Clown Prince of Crime. Additionally, he just might return to do it all over again.
“One thing I will tell you: I would do anything with Joaquin, any day of the week,. There’s nobody like him. If he was willing to do it, and if people show up to this movie, and Warners came to us and said, ‘You know what? If you guys could think of something…’ Well, I have a feeling that he and I could think of something pretty cool.”
DC films have been in a state of flux since the critical and commercial disappointment of Justice League. However, films like Aquaman and Shazam! have given fans hope that solo adventures will accomplish what the team-up film did not. While Joker will operate in its own corner of the DC Universe, it will no doubt set the tone for films darker in tone moving forward.
