‘Cloak & Dagger’ Crossover Episode Is Coming To ‘Runaways’ Season 3

While Marvel Studios is looking towards the future at this TV series slate on Disney+, the current crop of Marvel Television is still pumping out the content. Marvel announced that its Hulu series ‘Runaway’s’ will crossover with its Freeform series ‘Cloak & Dagger’ this year.
The official announcement came from the casts of both shows on Marvel’s social media and can be viewed below.

Fans of the two shows have been clamoring for a crossover since their inception. It will continue Marvel’s longstanding tradition of #ItsAllConnected. Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter featured crossovers between the two while Marvel’s efforts on Netflix met up on The Defenders.
Aubrey Joseph and Olivia Holy will reprise their characters from Cloak & Dagger. Joseph shouted “road trip to L.A.” in the video, so it seems like they will travel from their New Orleans home to California. Cloak & Dagger has dropped references to the greater MCU since its first season with mentions of Luke Cage, Misty Knight, Iron Fist, and Tony Stark dropped casually. However, this will be the first time that Runaways includes another Marvel property.

Season 2 of Cloak & Dagger just wrapped up on Freeform and there is currently no word on if a third season is on the way. Marvel and Netflix have decided to end their relationship with Jessica Jones season 3 this summer. Marvel’s ABC show Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. will air its season 6 finale tonight with its 7th and finale season premiering Summer 2020. Runaways will premiere its third season on Hulu in December.
With the Disney+ streaming service looming, Marvel Television is currently in a season of change. Hulu, co-owned by Disney, announced that it had a Ghost Rider in development with Gabriel Luna reprising his role from Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., so clearly anything is possible.
However, Marvel Studios currently seems focused on developing shows featuring more well-known characters from their films. For the meantime, fans still have a lot fo look forward from Marvel’s various TV endeavors in the near future.
