Danai Gurira Confirms Okoye Is Returning For ‘Black Panther 2’

It looks like a fan-favorite member of the Dora Milaje will be returning for Black Panther 2. During a recent interview with MTVNews Danai Gurira revealed her character Okoye will be returning to the MCU.

When asked about any information concerning the sequel, Gurira explained she has zero details to share. However, she did clarify that Ryan Coogler told her she will be returning.

Gurira: “Listen, literally I have no information. That’s the beauty of our conversation right now, my brain is vacant. Mr. Coogler says “Tell them we’re working hard and you’re in it.”

At Marvel’s Hall H panel during San Diego Comic-Con Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige announced they’re currently working on Black Panther 2. Later on, Feige elaborated that the film will take place during Phase 5. So while it may be some time till we see the movie, it is exciting to hear it will feature Okoye.

It was no surprise to learn Black Panther was receiving a sequel since the original earned over a billion dollars. With so much riding on the franchise, it makes sense Marvel has chosen to take their time with this project.
