Nightmare Is The Villain In ‘Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness’

Marvel Studios has finally revealed its Phase 4 lineup to the world and with it has come some new details about its upcoming films. During Marvel’s Hall H panel it was revealed that the villain of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will be Nightmare.
As fans of the comics know Nightmare is the evil ruler of the Dream Dimension, drawing power from the psychic energies of the subconscious minds of dreaming beings. The character has been previously teased by Marvel with screenwriter C. Robert Cargill previously expressing his hopes to use Nightmare in the sequel.
During the Hall H panel director, Scott Derrickson expressed that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will be Marvel’s first truly scary film. Given this news, it makes sense that the studio has chosen Nightmare to face off against Doctor Strange. If Strange travels into Nightmare’s Dream Dimension, the Sorcerer Supreme will be at the mercy of the villain’s torment.
It has not yet been revealed who will portray Nightmare in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness but given the film doesn’t release until May of 2021 it may be some time until it is revealed.
