Rudd would be joining a cast with the likes of Carrie Coon from The Post, Finn Wolfhard from Stranger Things and Mackenna Grace of The Gifted. There are rumors that legendary actor Sigourney Weaver may return to the franchise as Dana Barrett. Jason Reitman will direct the latest Ghostbusters installment, following in his father’s footsteps. Ivan Reitman directed the original Ghostbusters. Jason also co-wrote the screenplay with Gil Kenan for Ghostbusters 2020. Check out what Jason had to say about working with Rudd:
“I’ve been wanting to work with Paul Rudd since my short film opened for Wet Hot American Summer at Sundance. I’m thrilled he’ll be joining this new chapter in the original Ghostbusters universe.”
Sources tell Variety that the story of 2020 will focus on a single mom, supposedly played by Coon, and her family, played by Wolfhard and Grace. It is unknown how Reitman plans to connect 2020 to the original Ghostbusters franchise. Production begins this summer with the goal of hitting theaters during the summer of 2020.
