Another heroine may be joining the DC Universe streaming service. Asian-American actress Stella Smith is set to portray Artemis on Stargirl for a multi-episode arc, Full Circe has learned.
Stargirl seems to be working on bringing together both classic and legacy characters of the DC Universe. The series will feature several members of the Justice Society of America along with several young heroes including the titular Stargirl and Brainwave Jr. Now it appears that the series will add Artemis to its roster of young heroes.
In the comics, Artemis is the daughter of the villain Sportmaster, who will also make his live-action debut when the series debuts next year. Smith’s casting was already known, but until now her role on the series was a mystery. It will be interesting to see how large of a role she will play on the show so, for now, we will have to wait for further updates.
Many fans first became aware of Artemis following her introduction in the animated series Young Justice. Voiced by Stephanie Lemelin, the character was a protege of Green Arrow before joining the team. She eventually took up the mantle of Tigress, a title she would keep following the death of her boyfriend, Wally West.
