Bo Burnham To Pen Songs For WB’s ‘Sesame Street’ Film

Hot off the back of his directorial debut, stand- up comedian and Eighth Grade filmmaker Bo Burnham is set to write original songs for Warner Bros.’ upcoming Sesame Street movie, according to an exclusive from Deadline.
Directed by Portlandia’s Johnathan Krisel, the film centers on the beloved Sesame Street cast after they’re uprooted from their familiar neighborhood, later finding themselves in the bustling streets of Manhattan. They team up with history show host Sally Hawthorn (Anne Hathaway), who seeks to save her show and prove that Sesame Street truly does exist.
Burnham is mostly known for his work in comedy, but made his feature film debut with 2018’s Eighth Grade. The film opened to critical acclaim and earned him much praise as a writer and director. It’ll be interesting to see how Burnham’s style transfers into the family friendly world of Sesame Street.
The film stars Anne Hathaway, and is set to his theaters on January 15, 2021.
