James Gunn Discusses Writing ‘The Suicide Squad’

Following his firing from the Guardians franchise, James Gunn was hired to write and direct The Suicide Squad for DC. The director talks about the experience via Deadline.
Gunn was tasked with rebooting 2016’s Suicide Squad while also retaining some of the original cast members. Here’s what he had to say about the writing process for the movie:
“The Suicide Squad sequel, it just instantly started flowing,” Gunn said. “I don’t think I’ve had as much fun writing a script since maybe Dawn of the Dead. That’s what this whole movie has been like.”
Gunn seems to be excited about the prospect of “Task Force X” and their missions. The cast consists of returning members Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Viola Davis (Amanda Waller), Joel Kinnamean (Rick Flag), and Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang).
New members include Idris Elba, David Dastmalchian, Daniela Melchior. John Cena is rumored to have a role in the film as well.
