‘Tomb Raider’ Sequel Hires ‘Free Fire’ Writer Amy Jump

A video game movie adaptation is actually getting a sequel. Deadline is reporting that Free Fire writer Amy Jump will be writing the sequel to the 2018 film Tomb Raider starring Alicia Vikander.
Although the first film was not the huge success everyone wanted it to be, it has seemingly made the studio confident enough to move forward with the franchise. The report also says that Alicia Vikander is set to return and liked Jump’s take on the heroine. Director Roar Uthaug helmed the 2018 film but as of right now there is no indication he will come back for the sequel. In fact, hiring a new writer could foreshadow an entirely new creative team.
Amy Jump is a frequent collaborator with director Ben Wheatley writing both Free Fire and High Rise, as well as his next film titled Freak Shift. It would be nice to see a female director tackle the sequel but it would not be totally surprising if Wheatley ends up at the helm. They are a fierce duo and if you aren’t sure about her yet, she literally has the word Jump in her name. Lara Croft loves doing that.
