Tom Hanks Cast As Elvis Presley’s Manager In Upcoming Biopic

According to Variety, Tom Hanks is currently is set to play the Elvis Presley’s manager in Baz Luhrmann’s upcoming film about the legendary King of Rock ‘n’ Roll.
Colonel Tom Parker, an immigrant from the Netherlands and the man credited with discovering and managing Elvis Presley, will be played by one of the greatest character actors in cinematic history. From scooping up a young Elvis and being in the room when the iconic RCA deal was signed, Parker was extremely influential during the life and career of Elvis.
Luhrmann will direct with a script that he and Craig Pearce co-wrote. It is being said that the director wants a mega-star in the role of Parker while a relative newcomer will be cast as Elvis in the biopic.
Hanks certainly fits the bill of mega-star. His roles have always been up for consideration when awards season rolls around. He is currently filming the Mr. Rogers biopic A Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood and will star in Toy Story 4, voicing Woody, in theaters June 21.
