Spike Lee Enlists Two ‘The Wire’ Alums For Netflix Drama ‘Da 5 Bloods’

Fresh off his Oscar win, Spike Lee is already rounding out the cast for his next film. According to Collider, The Wire alums Clarke Peters and Isiah Whitlock Jr. have boarded Netflix’s Da 5 Bloods along with Norm Lewis, Mélanie Thierry, and Jasper Pääkkönen.
Peters and Whitlock join an ensemble that already includes Chadwick Boseman, Delroy Lindo, Jonathan Majors, Jean Reno, and Paul Walter Hauser. Peters, Whitlock, and Lewis are set to play three of the four leads alongside Lindo, who signed onto the film last month.
Da 5 Bloods focuses on four African-American veterans who venture to Vietnam in hopes of finding the remains of their fallen squad leader and the promise of buried treasure. Along the way, the men will have to battle forces of man and nature while being confronted by the lasting ravages of the immorality of the Vietnam War.
Peters is best known for his role on HBO’s The Wire as Detective Lester Freamon. He’s also appeared in such films as John Wick, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, and Marley & Me. Whitlock appeared alongside Peters on The Wire as Senator Clay Davis. Recently, he starred alongside Casey Affleck in The Old Man & the Gun.
