Alan Tudyk To Voice Iago In Disney’s Live-Action ‘Aladdin’

It turns out the newly released Aladdin trailer is not the only new bit of information about the film. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Alan Tudyk will be voicing Jafar’s wise-cracking bird parrot sidekick, Iago.
This is the latest of several Disney projects for Tudyk in the 2010s. His previous Disney roles include K-2SO from Rogue One, King Candy from Wreck-It Ralph, and Duke Weaselton from Zootopia. In addition, he is taking over the reins from previous Iago voice actor Gilbert Gottfried. Gottfried voiced Iago in the original 1992 film and the two subsequent direct-to-video sequels.
While the trailers have shown Will Smith in full display as the Genie, one notable aspect about the latest trailer has been left out. If one pays attention to the scenes with Iago, one can see that it excludes any scenes with Iago speaking. This means that while he can be seen with Jafar at various moments in the trailer, none of Tudyk’s work is being presented. As such, audiences will have to wait for the final product to witness him providing a unique portrayal of the character.
