Emma Watson Reportedly Up For Lead Role In ‘Black Widow’

A frontrunner for a lead role alongside Scarlett Johansson in Black Widow has potentially emerged. According to That Hashtag Show, Emma Watson is up for a part in the upcoming Marvel Studios film.
Watson is best known for her roles as Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter franchise and Belle in Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast. She’s also appeared in such films as This is the End, The Circle, The Perks of Being a Wallflower, and the upcoming Little Women from director Greta Gerwig.
The role in question is said to be physically demanding, with the studio searching for an actress who feels similar to their titular star. Other names that are reportedly up for the part are Alice Englert, Dar Zuzovsky, and Watson’s co-star in Little Women, Florence Pugh.
Black Widow is going to dive into the backstory of Natasha Romanoff, who has been a mainstay of the MCU since Iron Man 2 in 2010. The film will follow Romanoff during her time as an assassin in Russia during the late-1990s.
