Naturally, the new DC Universe will include the Dark Knight and it seems James Gunn and Peter Safran have an exciting plan for the character. During the duo’s slate reveal, they announced The Brave and the Bold, a live-action theatrical film featuring Batman and Robin.

The movie will be a father and son story with Bruce Wayne and Damian Wayne and is inspired by Grant Morrison’s Batman and Robin. As of right now, Gunn has not confirmed who will star as the Caped Crusader, but it will not be Robert Pattinson or Ben Affleck in the role.

Created by Morrison and Andy Kubert in 2006, Damian Wayne first appeared in Batman #655. The son of Batman and Talia al Ghul, he is the grandson of Ra’s al Ghul. Intended to kill and replace his father and serve as a host body for Ra’s al Ghul, he is now a trusted member of the Batman family as the current iteration of Robin.

Given the presence of Damian, it seems that this incarnation of Batman will be an established hero in the DC Universe with his own cast of characters. This will surely be exciting for fans because, based on Gunn’s comments, there may be other members of the Bat-Family in the film.
