Jack Black Returning To ‘Kung Fu Panda’ Franchise For New Netflix Series

Swift kicks and a supreme hankering for every steamed dumpling under the sun will soon abound. According to the OG himself, Jack Black will return for a new Kung Fu Panda series currently in development at Netflix.
According to the actor, Jack Black will once again star as the franchise’s cuddly protagonist, Po, the titular heroic panda. Black provided his voice to the animated character across three films and various shorts from 2008 to 2016. In the six years since Black last brought the character to life, two animated shows based on the property were created and ended, though neither featured the comedy star’s vocal range nor most of the film series’ original voice lineup.

Very little is known about Netflix’s upcoming venture into the universe of the Panda at this time. Aside from Black being courted to star, no other voice actors have been announced. However, if executives from the streaming giant are capable of convincing a movie star like Black to revisit the property then who knows? Maybe a few strings are already being tugged at to get a Kung Fu Panda reunion off the ground with this new series.
There is no confirmed release date for Netflix’s Kung Fu Panda series.
What do you think? Does the franchise still have some life for the small screen? Would you like to hear the original trilogy’s voice cast back in action? Let us know in the comments below!
