Amazon Prime Video’s hit series The Boys may be coming to an end with its fifth season, but the streamer still has big plans for the franchise. During the show’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con, it was officially announced that a Soldier Boy prequel series titled Vought Rising is in development.
The series will be set in 1950s New York and star Jensen Ackles, who will reprise his role as the fan-favorite supe. He will also be joined by Aya Cash, who will return as Stormfront.

Executive producer Eric Kripke and series showrunner Paul Grellong released the following statement about the new series:
“We are excited to bring you the next deranged series from the world of ‘The Boys.’ It’s a twisted murder mystery about the origins of Vought in the 1950s, the early exploits of Soldier Boy, and the diabolical maneuvers of a supe known to fans as Stormfront, who was then going by the name Clara Vought. We cannot wait to blow your minds and trouble your souls with this salacious, grisly saga drenched in blood and Compound V.”
Vought Rising joins the growing list of spin-offs, which includes Gen V and the previously announced The Boys Mexico series. The panel did not confirm how far into pre-production the show is, so estimating when to expect it to hit streaming is difficult. But given that Ackles’ Soldier Boy will be involved with The Boys season 5, his schedule will be pretty booked for the time being.
