Josh Hartnett & Saleka Shyamalan To Star In M. Night Shyamalan’s Next Film

One of the most prolific filmmakers of his generation is reportedly gearing up for his next big project. According to a new report from Film Updates, M. Night Shyamalan has recruited his eldest daughter Saleka, and Josh Hartnett to star in his upcoming film.
Per the initial report, the film was previously known as Trap but is currently being filmed under the codename Good Grades. Shyamalan, who famously produces and finances his own films via his Philadelphia-based production company, Blinding Edge Pictures, struck an interim deal with SAG-AFTRA in order to roll cameras during the actors’ strike.

At this time, plot details are being kept close to the chest. However, Shyamalan described the film as a psychological thriller set at a concert during the Warner Bros’ CineEurope presentation in Barcelona earlier this year. Saleka, who is an R&B singer-songwriter, will portray a pop star in the film while Josh Hartnett will play a father chaperoning his child at a concert and ends up right in the middle of the chaos.
Saleka studied Literary Arts and Music at Brown University and has opened for acts like Boyz II Men and Summer Walker. The upcoming feature with her father will notably be the first time she’s shined in a starring role on the big screen. Meanwhile, Hartnett most recently starred in Christopher Nolan’s latest film Oppenheimer opposite Cillian Murphy as well as an episode of Netflix’s anthology series Black Mirror.
