With DC’s Batgirl currently in production, many have wondered which, if any, Batman would appear. Now thanks to a press release for the film, we may finally know the answer to be Michael Keaton.

Michael Keaton has been included in the cast list for the upcoming Batgirl. The actor’s name is alongside confirmed actors such as Leslie Grace (Barbra Gordon/Batgirl), J.K. Simmons (Commissioner Gordon), and Brendan Fraser (Firefly).

Keaton first appeared as Bruce Wayne/Batman in 1989’s Batman. He returned to the role in 1992’s Batman Returns before leaving the role. Keaton will don the cowl once again in the upcoming The Flash film slated for late 2022.

It has been rumored for some time now that Keaton would again reprise the role in Batgirl, but until now, there was no confirmation. The extent of the actor’s role in the movie is still unclear, but he’ll most likely be the inspiration for Barbara to take up the mantle and clean up Gotham City’s streets.

Birds of Prey scribe Christina Hodson wrote the script for the film with HBO Max handling the movie’s distribution. Bad Boys For Life directors Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah are set to helm the highly anticipated feature.
