Christina Milian & Jay Pharoah To Star In Netflix Romantic Comedy From Alicia Keys

One of music’s greatest voices Alicia Keys will next turn her attention and talents to producing content alongside Netflix. As first reported by Deadline, the Grammy award-winning singer will produce a currently-untitled romantic comedy with Christina Milian and Saturday Night Live‘s Jay Pharoah attached to star.
Additionally, Sinqua Walls (Power) will have a starring role in the picture as well. Per the initial report, the story follows an aspiring pop star named Erica. The film’s events lead her to agree to be the entertainment at her ex-fiancé’s wedding at a luxurious island resort. As Erica desperately attempts to keep their past hidden from the bride-to-be, she rediscovers feelings for her ex while his brother vows to keep them apart.

The comedy was co-written by Stella Meghie (The Photograph), Dana Schmalenberg (Single Ladies), and Rheeqrheeq Chainey (GLOW). Moreover, filmmaker Steven Tsuchida is on-board to direct the feature. The director has an established relationship with Netflix after helming episodes of Dear White People and On My Block. Alicia Keys will serve as the film’s executive producer through her AK Worldwide production company.
Christina Milian signed a recording contract with Murder Inc. Records at the age of 19. Since then, the singer/actress has released a number of singles to chart in the Top 40 of the U.S Billboard Hot 100 rankings. Additionally, Millian has starred in some film and TV projects like Love Don’t Cost a Thing, Christmas Cupid, and The Oath. Meanwhile, Jay Pharoah’s rise to stardom is thanks to his remarkable celebrity impressions on SNL. Since his departure from the sketch comedy show, the comedian has starred in the animated film Sing as well as Jamie Foxx’s White Famous.
