Until now, Ray Winstone’s character in Marvel Studios’ Black Widow has remained a mystery, but it seems his role has now been revealed. According to the most recent issue of Empire magazine, via Marvel Studios News, Winstone will portray Dreykov, the Head of the Red Room.
Fans of the MCU will recognize this name as Dreykov was first mentioned in The Avengers during Natasha Romanoff’s confrontation with Loki. When the God of Mischief listed all of the red in Romanoff’s ledger to antagonize her, he said, “Can you wipe out that much red? Dreykov’s daughter, São Paulo, the hospital fire… Barton told me everything.”
Dreykov served as the overseer of the Red Room and recruited Romanoff to the organization, turning her into a superspy. It has not been revealed what happened to Dreykov’s daughter, but it seems Black Widow played a role in her fate, which will most likely be referenced in the upcoming film.
In the most recent trailer for the movie, it was mentioned that Taskmaster has taken over the Red Room, so it seems that Dreykov has been removed from his position.
