Aaron Taylor-Johnson & Nicholas Hoult Are The Rumored Frontrunners For ‘The Batman’

From mutants to the world’s greatest detective. A new rumor claims that Aaron Taylor-Johnson (Kick-Ass) and Nicholas Hoult (X-Men: Dark Phoenix) are the frontrunners to star in Matt Reeves’ The Batman.
The news comes courtesy of industry insider Daniel Richtman, who claims the current actors in the lead to replace Ben Affleck’s Batman are the two well-known names. Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Nicholas Hoult have been in the running for a while now after appearing in a rumored wishlist back in March, via GWW. Not only are they in the desired age range (25-33), but they are very familiar with superhero films. That being said, Taylor-Johnson has been superhero-free for years now and Hoult will be once X-Men: Dark Phoenix is released this summer.
With a late-2019 production start still in the cards, either actor could certainly make the cut to star in the solo Batman film. Both Taylor-Johnson and Hoult have had critically-acclaimed roles in recent years, from Nocturnal Animals to The Favourite, respectively. They are not only plausible choices but pretty safe bets for both the studio and director.

The Batman hits theaters on June 25, 2021.
