James Gunn’s highly anticipated Superman reboot is set to release this July and kick off a brand new cinematic chapter for the DC Universe. This new world of DC films is set to include Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, and thanks to recently surfaced set footage, fans have their first glimpse at Milly Alcock as the titular heroine.
The footage, which can be seen below, features Alcock’s Supergirl standing on a tank alongside what appears to be a large, imposing foe. Given their pale appearance, fans have speculated that this is most likely Jason Momoa’s Lobo. Additionally, the footage confirms that this version of the character will don her classic costume, including the skirt.

Based on Tom King’s run on the character, it seems the film will take Kara Zor-El on a sci-fi odyssey through the galaxy. Gunn has previously spoken about this take on the heroine and said that, unlike Superman, who will appear in the film, Supergirl was not raised in a safe place like Earth. Instead, she grew up drifting through space, making her a harsher person than her cousin. The film will highlight this difference between the Girl and Man of Steel.
The film is being directed by Craig Gillespie, who is known for his work on 2017’s I, Tonya and 2021’s Cruella. Ana Nogueira wrote the script for the project and was recently tasked with handling the screenplay for an untitled Teen Titans film.
