Following a few star-making roles in Bottoms, The Idea of You and Red, White & Royal Blue, Nicholas Galitzine seems primed to take on a major franchise and become a household name. Now, as first reported by The Hollywood Reporter, the Englishman has signed on to play the iconic hero He-Man in the upcoming, and long-awaited, Masters of the Universe film.

Kubo and the Two Strings director Travis Knight will helm the film, which is a joint production from Amazon MGM Studios and Mattel Films.

He-Man is the main protagonist of the Masters of the Universe franchise, which includes a toy line, several animated television series, comic books, and a feature film. Created by Roger Sweet, the hero first appeared in 1981’s He-Man and the Power Sword. The likes of Dolph Lundgren have previously portrayed him in previous live-action adaptations. Black Adam star Noah Centineo was previously tapped to play He-Man when the film was in development at Netflix.

The highly anticipated project sees Galitzine’s working relationship with Amazon extended after starring in the studio’s hit films The Idea of You, Red, White & Royal Blue, and Cinderella. The actor also touts a starring role alongside Julianne Moore in the British historical drama Mary & George.
