Avatar Studios’ First Film To Focus On Aang & Friends As Adults

Some exciting news for fans of Nickelodeon’s Avatar: The Last Airbender was revealed at the Avatar: Braving the Elements – LIVE! panel during San Diego Comic-Con. It has now been confirmed that the first feature-length movie from Avatar Studios is set to focus on Aang and his friends.

The news was revealed by Janet Varney, the voice of Korra in The Legend of Korra and the co-host of the Avatar: Braving the Elements podcast. It was previously reported that the first film from the studio would focus on Kyoshi, with subsequent films focusing on Zuko and Korra. So it is possible this order changed or additional films are also in the mix.

Avatar News also reported from San Diego Comic-Con that Aang and his friends will be young adults in the film. It is currently eyeing a 2024 release in theaters. Additional details were not revealed at the time, but it’s possible the movie could focus on anything from after the defeat of Fire Lord Ozai all the way to the founding of Republic City.

Michael DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko, the original creators and executive producers, run the studio as co-chief creative officers, reporting to the President of Nickelodeon Animation, Ramsey Naito. Avatar Studios will produce content for Paramount+, Nickelodeon, third-party platforms, and theatrical releases.
