According to Deadline, Johnathan Majors is set to star in Magazine Dreams, a film directed by Elijah Bynum. The film will follow an amateur bodybuilder who is struggling to find human connections. It will focus on the exploitation, violence, and celebrity of the athletes. Bynum will write the film as well, and Majors will also executive produce under his Tall Street Productions banner.
Jennifer Fox and Dan Gilroy, producers of Nightcrawler that starred Jake Gyllenhaal, will also produce the film. Jeffrey Soros and Simon Horsman will also produce with Los Angeles Media fully financing Magazine Dreams. The financing and domestic sale will all be handled by CAA Media Finance.
Majors will begin shooting in May. He has been very busy and will be starting this film as Creed III finishes, where he will play Adonis’ new enemy and will be in perfect shape to play a bodybuilder coming off of Creed. He also has a film releasing today, Netflix’s The Harder They Fall. Majors recently starred in HBO’s Lovecraft Country and Spike Lee’s Da 5 Bloods, while also surprising fans when he appeared as Kang or He Who Remains in the Loki series on Disney+. He will return as the character in Ant-Man & The Wasp: Quantamania in 2022.
Majors has been a coveted actor in Hollywood, and he seems to not be slowing down at all. He’s received Golden Globe, Critics’ Choice, SAG, and Emmy nominations, he seems hungry for more. We can only wait and see what the payoff of Magazine Dreams will be for this Hollywood all-star.
