Danny Trejo Is The Voice Of Boots In ‘Dora And The Lost City Of Gold’

In some of the strangest bit of casting news in cinematic history, Danny Trejo has confirmed via his personal Twitter account that he is voicing Dora the Explorer’s best friend Boots, the monkey, in the upcoming live-action adaptation.

Since last summer, news of a live-action version of the classic animated Nickelodeon series Dora the Explorer has been trickling in leading up to the movie’s wide release in August. Including confirmation that Dora will be older and that a group of new friends will be introduced to help carry the plot.

Today, the first official posters were released for the film ahead of the trailer’s debut this weekend during Nickelodeon’s Kid’s Choice Awards. Trejo clearly saw this as an opportunity to make the big announcement.

While this news is certainly unexpected, it is sure to bring new eyes to the movie that would not have been interested initially. Trejo is known for his roles in the Machete franchise, as well as Hollywood classics like Heat and Desperado. His career has spanned over 40 years and his inclusion in the upcoming Nickelodeon film might just legitimize it in the eyes of the masses.

What do you think of this casting news? Will Trejo make a good Boots? Let us know in the comments below.

Dora and the Lost City of Gold opens in theaters on Aug. 2, 2019. It stars Isabela Moner, Jeffrey Wahlberg, Eugenio Derbez, Nicholas Coombe, Madeleine Madden, & Adriana Barraza.
