Nicholas Hoult Cast As Lex Luthor In ‘Superman: Legacy’

James Gunn’s Superman: Legacy has finally tapped a star to play the Man of Steel’s archnemesis. According to Deadline, Nicholas Hoult is set to star as Lex Luthor opposite David Corenswet’s titular hero.
Hoult was rumored for the role for some time now, so it is exciting to have official confirmation finally. The studio reportedly wanted to go through the casting process following the SAG-AFTRA strike. The star’s casting is very interesting as not only was he up for the role of Superman, which ultimately went to Corenswet, but he was also in the running to star as Bruce Wayne in Matt Reeve’s The Batman.

The X-Men: First Class and Mad Max Fury Road star will now appear alongside Corenswet’s Superman and Rachel Brosnahan’s Lois Lane. Additionally, the trio are joined by María Gabriela De Faría, who was recently tapped to play The Engineer as a member of The Authority.
James Gunn will write and direct the feature. Superman: Legacy will kick off the rebooted DCU for Warner Bros and share little to no connections with the preceding DCEU. DC Studios hopes to have Superman: Legacy filming in early 2024, in time for a July 11, 2025, release.
