Grazer has been offered the role of Hiccup, the young Viking that ultimately befriends the dragons and saves his village. Cravalho is in talks for Astrid, the female Viking warrior, and Hiccup’s love interest. And lastly, Edgerton is in negotiations for the role of Stoick, the leader of the island of Berk and Hiccup’s father.
Dean DeBlois, the filmmaker behind the original animated trilogy, is set to return as writer, director, and producer of the new adaptation. Development is already underway on the film, with a release date of March 14, 2025, already set.
Originally a successful children’s book series written by Cressida Cowell, the franchise spawned a trilogy of animated feature films from DreamWorks Animation.
