Michaela Coel & Anne Hathaway To Star In A24’s ‘Mother Mary’ From David Lowery

A24 Films recently earned its second Best Picture with its history-making victory for Everything Everywhere All At Once. However, the studio is constantly creating and curating innovative feats of cinema despite its success. Up next, as first reported by Deadline, the studio is reteaming with Green Knight director David Lowery for a new film titled Mother Mary.
Per the initial report, Michaela Coel and Anne Hathaway are on board to star in the film. The aforementioned Lowery is directing from a script he penned himself. Lowery will also produce the feature alongside Toby Halbrooks (A Ghost Story) and James M. Johnston (Peter Pan & Wendy).

Per the initial report, Mother Mary is described as an epic pop music melodrama. Anne Hathaway will portray a legendary pop singer who develops a relationship with an equally iconic fashion designer, portrayed by Michaela Coel. Jack Antonoff and Charli XCX are reportedly writing and composing original songs for the feature.
Michaela Coel is the creator, writer, co-director, and executive producer of the hit HBO series I May Destroy You. Notably, the actress touts roles in blockbuster films like Black Panther: Wakanda Forever and Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Meanwhile, Ann Hathaway is an Oscar winner who most recently starred alongside Jeremy Strong in Armageddon Time. Up next, she will star opposite Jessica Chastain in the psychological thriller Mothers’ Instinct.
