Lupita Nyong’o To Star In ‘A Quiet Place: Day One’

One of the most prolific horror franchises of the modern era is John Krasinski’s A Quiet Place films. While the first one was a cultural phenomenon, the sequel was equally as engulfing. Now, it appears Paramount Pictures is looking to expand the series with a new spinoff. As first reported by Deadline, Lupita Nyong’o will spet into the lead role for the new A Quiet Place feature.

Unlike the first two installments of the series, which saw John Krasinski at the helm, A Quiet Place: Day One will be directed and written by Pig‘s Michael Sarnoski. However, the feature is based on an original idea by Krasinski himself. At one point, Loving director Jeff Nichols was attached to write the film but has since exited. Michael Bay, Andrew Form (The Purge), and Brad Fuller (Jack Ryan) will produce the film alongside executive producers Krasinski and his partner Allyson Seeger.

A Quiet Place is directed by John Krasinski and written by Bryan Woods and Scott Beck. However, it was originally a story conceived by Woods and Beck. The plot revolves around a father (Krasinski) and a mother (Emily Blunt) who struggle to survive with their children in a post-apocalyptic world inhabited by blind monsters with an acute sense of hearing. The first film earned over $340 million at the box office with its 2021 sequel earning almost $300 million.

Lupita Nyong’o is the recipient of several accolades, including an Academy Award, and nominations for two Primetime Emmy Awards and a Tony Award. Thanks to her roles in hit films like Black Panther, Star Wars: The Force Awakens, and 12 Years a Slave, Nyong’o is a bonafide household name. Up next, the Oscar winner returns to the MCU in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
