‘Madame Web’ Set Footage Reveals First Look At Dakota Johnson

Sony’s upcoming entry in their universe of Marvel characters has snagged quite a few big-name stars, including Dakota Johnson. Well, new footage from the set of Madame Web has revealed the first look at the actress’ character.
Created by writer Denny O’Neil and artist John Romita Jr., Madame Web first appeared in The Amazing Spider-Man #210 in 1980. She appears as an elderly woman with myasthenia gravis, connected to a life support system resembling a spiderweb. However, per the initial report, the film will likely put a different spin on the character and she will likely serve as Sony’s version of Doctor Strange. The character usually appears when the multiverse of Spider-Man characters converges.

Based on the footage above it seems likely Johnson is playing the second Madame Web, Julia Carpenter. In the comics the character wears the same red jacket the actress can be seen wearing and the star’s age matches up as well.
Jessica Jones director S.J. Clarkson is on board to helm the film with a script by Matt Sazama and Burk Sharpless (The Last Witch Hunter). Sony Pictures will produce the feature in conjunction with Marvel Entertainment as the latest film in the Sony Spider-Man Universe.
