Kurt & Wyatt Russell To Star In Apple TV’s ‘Godzilla’ Spinoff Series

Apple TV has become one of the certified heavy-hitters in the ongoing streaming wars. With hits like Ted Lasso and The Afterparty under its belt, the streamer will next dive into the world of kaiju with a Godzilla spinoff series. As first reported by Deadline, the series will now star the father/son duo of Kurt and Wyatt Russell.
The Russells join the cast already featuring Anna Sawai, Ren Watabe, Kiersey Clemons, Joe Tippett, and Elisa Lasowski. Legendary Television will produce the series co-created by Chris Black (Star Trek: Enterprise) and Hawkeye scribe Matt Fraction. Additionally, the duo will serve as series executive producers with Black stepping in as showrunner. Hiro Matsuoka (Detective Pikachu) and Joby Harold (Transformers: Rise of the Beasts) will also executive produce as well. Notably, WandaVision’s Matthew Shakman will direct the first two episodes.

The series will take place following the battle between Godzilla and the Titans that destroyed San Francisco. The plot charts one family’s journey to uncover family secrets that link them to the Monarch organization as well as how the world copes with the reality that monsters are real.
Kurt Russell is one of the most recognizable names in Hollywood history thanks to legendary turns in films like Tango & Cash and Vanilla Sky. Most recently, the actor touts roles in blockbuster franchises like the MCU and the Fast & Furious series. Meanwhile, Kurt’s son Wyatt joined the Marvel universe himself in the Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Most recently, the actor starred alongside Andrew Garfield in the Emmy-nominated limited series Under the Banner of Heaven.
