Robin De Jesús & Dan Stevens Join Kumail Nanjiani In Hulu’s Limited Series ‘Immigrant’

Lin-Manuel Miranda’s directorial debut tick, tick…BOOM! has quickly become a cultural phenomenon. With its star Andrew Garfield nominated for Best Actor at the upcoming 94th Academy Awards, it was only a matter of time before the rest of the incredible cast began reaping the rewards from the film’s success as well. As first reported by Deadline, one of the musical’s standouts, Robin De Jesús, will next join Eternals star Kumail Nanjiani in the cast of the upcoming limited series Immigrant. Moreover, Legion star Dan Stevens is another recent addition to the cast as well.
Robin De Jesús and Stevens join the recently cast Andrew Rannels in the ensemble led by Nanjiani. Quentin Plair (Roswell, New Mexico), Nicola Peltz (Transformers: Age of Extinction), Annaleigh Ashford (Masters of Sex), and Murray Bartlett (The White Lotus) will appear in the series as well. The project hails from Pam & Tommy creator Robert Siegel, who will write and executive produce. Siegel will also serve as co-showrunner alongside Jenni Konner (Girls). Additionally, WandaVision director Matt Shakman is at the helm of the series.

Immigrant tells the true story of Somen “Steve” Banerjee portrayed by Nanjiani, the Indian-American entrepreneur who created Chippendales. The limited series will reportedly be a dark comedy taking viewers behind the scenes of the program’s crime-ridden creation. Robin De Jesús will reportedly portray the resident handyman for the Chippendales. Dan Stevens plays a hustler looking to capitalize on the popularity of the troupe.
Robin De Jesús is a multi-time Tony Award nominee for his roles on-stage in In the Heights and La Cage aux Folles. Away from the Broadway stage, the actor’s litany of roles includes features in hit shows like Law & Order: SVU as well as the film adaptation of The Boys in the Band. Meanwhile, Dan Stevens touts memorable roles in films like Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga and Beauty and the Beast. Up next, Stevens will star alongside Julia Roberts in the upcoming Starz series Gaslit.
