Robert Downey Jr. To Star In New Film For Amazon Studios Based On Richard Stark’s ‘Parker’ Novel With Shane Black Attached

Robert Downey Jr. and Shane Black are back working together on a new film, according to The Wrap. The film will reunite Downey Jr. with Black, who last worked with each other on Iron Man 3. Downey Jr. starred as the title character, while Black wrote and directed the film. Instead of Disney and Marvel however, this time the duo will be working with Amazon Studios.
The film will be based on Richard Stark’s Parker novels. The series includes 24 books and the 1967 film Point Blank. There are a total of eight films festuring the character of Parker, making this his ninth film appearance. The Jason Statham film Payback from 2013 is also based on Stark’s Parker series.

Downey Jr. will join a great list of actors that have played the character including Statham, Mel Gibson, Jim Brown, and Lee Marvin, among others. The Matrix and Die Hard producer Joel Silver will produce the film along with Downey Jr. and Susan Downey.
Black is well known for writing a number of films including Lethal Weapon, The Nice Guys, and the aforementioned Iron Man 3. He also directed 2018’s The Predator.
