Zach Galifianakis & Elizabeth Banks To Star In Apple TV’s ‘The Beanie Bubble’

Apple TV continues its foothold during the ongoing streaming wars. With recent hit films like Finch and Coda becoming Apple exclusives, the future of its film slate looks brighter than ever. Now, As first reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Apple Studios has secured the rights to a new film titled The Beanie Bubble with Zach Galifianakis and Elizabeth Banks attached to star.
The two comedic stalwarts will join Succession‘s Sarah Snook and Bad Education star Geraldine Viswanathan in the ensemble cast. Kristin Gore (Saturday Night Live) will co-direct the film alongside her husband, Ok Go lead singer Damian Kulash. Brian Grazer (Splash), Ron Howard (Solo: A Star Wars Story), and Karen Lunder (Gifted) will executive produce the feature via Imagine Entertainment.

The film will reportedly follow the real-life events surrounding the Beanie Baby surge that took place in the 90s. Check out the official description for the film below.
“Pulling back the curtain on the absurdities and injustices of the American Dream — particularly the female relationship to it, The Beanie Bubble is a celebration of the women who helped power Ty Warner’s success, whose strengths and good instincts shaped and amplified the phenomenon, but whose names are not on the Beanie Babies’ heart-shaped tags.”
Perhaps best known for her role in The Hunger Games franchise, Elizabeth Banks most recently starred in and directed Charlie’s Angels in 2019. Up next, Banks will portray the iconic Ms. Frizzle in the live-action Magic School Bus movie. Recently, Zach Galifianakis voiced the titular character in the animated hit Ron’s Gone Wrong. Next, Galifianakis will once again lend his voice talents to the highly anticipated Bob’s Burgers Movie.
