Warner Bros. ‘Barbie’ Finds Its Ken In Ryan Gosling

After a long wait, it seems that Ryan Gosling is signing onto Warner Bros.’ Barbie film, starring alongside The Suicide Squad‘s Margot Robbie. According to Deadline, Mattel and LuckyChap will also be producing the film based on the iconic doll line. There is no plot for the film as of yet, but Little Women‘s director Greta Gerwig has been announced to direct the toy adaptation.

WB had been trying to sign Gosling for some time, but due to scheduling conflicts, he wasn’t able to. Now that Gosling is finally signing on after the studio’s persistent pursuit, the film is set to shoot sometime in 2022. A Marriage Story‘s director Noah Baumbach co-wrote the script for Barbie along with Gerwig. We know her style is a tad bit different, so we are sure to get a fresh take on Barbie.
The Ken Doll was introduced in 1961 and has been a popular part of pop culture ever since. Much like Barbie, Ken has seen plenty of different sets and outfits. He’s been featured in the Barbie cartoons on Netflix. This would be the first live-action Ken ever, and it sure is an interesting casting.
