‘Resident Evil’ Reboot Eyeing Brenton Thwaites & Kaya Scodelario

The cast of the upcoming Resident Evil reboot appears to be coming together based on a new report. According to insider Daniel Richtman, the film is eyeing Brenton Thwaites and Kaya Scodelario to star.
First announced back in 2017 by Constantin chairman Martin Moszkowicz, the long-awaited reboot of the Resident Evil franchise has gone through a few stages of production. It was initially reported that James Wan would produce the film with a script by Greg Russo, but soon after, Wan left to helm the Mortal Kombat reboot. Currently, the movie is being produced by Robert Kulzer and James Harris with Johannes Roberts directing from a script written by Tony Giglio.
As of now, no casting announcements have been made official, but this new report suggests the film’s roster is in the process of growing. According to Richtman’s Patreon, the reboot is looking to cast Scodelario and Thwaites as Claire and Chris Redfield, respectively.

Claire Redfield grew up with her brother Chris in Raccoon City. As an adult, Claire has left the city, but one day while trying to convince her brother to do the same, a zombie outbreak causes chaos in the city. It turns out that the mysterious Umbrella Corporation has created a virus that is causing the outbreak, and they plan on destroying the city to keep their secret. Scodelario has reportedly been offered the role of Claire, but as of now, it is not confirmed if she has signed on to star.
Chris grew up with his sister in Raccoon City, and as an adult, he became a cop. After a zombie outbreak leaves the city in ruin, Chris and his sister have to survive the chaos and expose the Umbrella Corporation. Thwaites is currently being eyed for the role, but it has not been confirmed if he has signed on to star.
Additionally, the film is eyeing Harris Dickinson to portray Leon, a hungover rookie cop who has just moved to Raccoon City. Leon will join Claire and Chris as they battle their way through the zombie outbreak.
The Resident Evil reboot was scheduled to begin filming at the end of May through August, but given the current state of Hollywood in the wake of COVID-19, this remains uncertain.
