RUMOR: Georges St-Pierre To Return As Batroc In ‘Falcon & The Winter Soldier’

Over the last few weeks, bits and pieces of information have come out regarding the upcoming Disney+ series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier. Notably, Doctor Sleep star Carl Lumbly joined the cast and The Thunderbolts are rumored to be introduced in the series. Now, According to The Weekly Planet Podcast, Georges St-Pierre is rumored to reprise his role as Batroc the Leaper in the upcoming MCU series.

During the show’s famous “Hot Scoop or Shot of Poop” segment, hosts James Clement and Nick Mason revealed that a reliable source informed them of Batroc’s return. Longtime fans of the MCU will remember the iconic battle Batroc had with Steve Rogers during the first few moments of 2014’s Captain America: The Winter Soldier. The villain would ultimately be caught by S.H.I.E.L.D. before never being heard from again.

Debuting in Marvel Comics in 1966, Batroc the Leaper is a master French kickboxer. He has appeared as a member of the Thunderbolts and as Ulysses Klaw’s right-hand man.

The capacity of Batroc’s role is currently unknown. However, with reports of The Thunderbolts emerging in the MCU, perhaps the character will play a part in the formation of that team. Georges St-Pierre, a retired Canadian professional mixed martial artist, has competed in the UFC, winning multiple championships along the way. Additionally, he appeared in Kickboxer: Vengeance in 2016.

The series will see the return of Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan in their respective MCU roles. It will expand upon the final few moments of Avengers: Endgame where Steve Rogers hands his shield off to The Falcon, dubbing him the new Captain America. Additionally, the series will also bring about the debut of classic Captain America side-characters Battlestar and U.S. Agent. Moreover, set photos from the production paint a picture of what fans can expect from the series.
