‘Titans’ Season 2 Casts ‘Ready or Not’s Hanneke Talbot As Shimmer

DC Universe is including another villain to their most popular show. After appearing in the latest trailer, Titans‘ second season has added Ready or Not star Hanneke Talbot as the comic villain Shimmer.
The news comes courtesy of insider Lance Ausfresser in the Titans Facebook group. Talbot will only have a brief appearance in the series fighting against Starfire and Wondergirl. However, she could be featured down the line in a future season that sees her as a part of the supervillain group, the Fearsome Five. Her acting credits also include Star Trek: Discovery, iZombie, and 2018’s Stockholm.

Known as Shimmer, Selinda Flinders is a superhuman from Australia that has the power to transmute any element or compound into any other. After a series of events using her powers to torment her school bullies, the parents sent her and her brother Baran (a.k.a. Mammoth) off to Markovia. Put in the care of scientist Dr. Helga Jace, she tried to teach the young metahumans a sense of morality, but the two turned to a life of crime.
In DC Comics lore, both Dr. Light and Shimmer were founding members of the Fearsome Five. Although it’s too early to tell, it is entirely possible they are setting up that supervillain group for future seasons. They have been adversaries of the Teen Titans for years, including characters such as Psimon, Gizmo and more.

The show stars Brenton Thwaites as Dick Grayson/Robin, Anna Diop as Starfire, Teagan Croft as Raven, Alan Ritchson as Hawk, Minka Kelly as Dove, Ryan Potter as Beast Boy, Iain Glen as Bruce Wayne/Batman, Chelsea Zhang as Rose Wilson/Ravager and Esai Morales as Slade Wilson/Deathstroke.
